Live muziek: zondag 20 augustus | 20.00u | HEAVEN HEAVEN ft. Teun Creemers
Teun, bass player, composer and initiator who has always had a broad interest in different musical genres, which has never limited him to playing just one. Teun has performed nationally and internationally with a wide variety of bands in genres such as blues, jazz, funk, rock, punk, impro, afrobeat, latin and other forms of world music. To free up time for further development of new music, Teun decided to quit ‘De Raad van Toezicht’ in 2021, one of his better-known bands he played in. He felt he was ready for new challenges and a new sound.
THE VALUE OF MUSIC IN TEUN’S LIFE
“Music is about imperfections. Without these characteristics music would be boring” Is what Teun has to say about ‘the value of music’ He gets his inspiration from people who willingly dare to cross boundaries. ‘Fall down and get back up is the essence of musicianship’ he answered when we asked this question. The value of music from Teun’s point of view is imagination, amazement and reinventing yourself endlessly.
ABOUT THE SINGLE ‘MOON’
‘Moon’ is one of my quietest pieces that I have played in many different line-ups. I wrote it shortly before my grandfather passed away, so it always feels like it’s about him to me. Whether I play ‘Moon’ solo or with a band, it always comes naturally. As if the piece guides the musicians to what they have to do. I think this is the only piece I’ve ever written that has that power.
